Chris Thomas joined WRDW in July 2007 as the city government reporter. He has filed reports from Augusta National to the state capitol in Atlanta. Along the way he has pitched questions to everyone from the iron man himself, Cal Ripken to Medal of Freedom recipient Rev. Joseph Lowery on the eve of his Presidential inauguration benediction.

Chris does not throw softballs. When the area coliseum authority suggested hiring a consultant for more than $500,000 he asked the tough questions that led to the deal being restructured and later taken off the table. He exposed a possible cover-up following a botulism outbreak and confronted the owners of an illegal hospice.

It is every day viewers, like Candye Smith, who serve as the motivation behind his most rewarding series at News 12 called Give it 4Ward. Leave it to a viewer named Candye to bring something sweet to what is often sad and bitter news.

Chris was named Reporter of the Year by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of the CSRA after just 6 months on the job.

Prior to reporting at News 12, he worked as an Associate Producer in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Much of his journalism training came through internships at Atlanta's WSB-TV, and at NBC, ABC, and FOX news affiliates in Birmingham.

Chris majored in English and graduated with departmental honors from Morehouse College. He is currently an active member of the Augusta chapter of the Morehouse Alumni Association.
