Ryan Calhoun joined the News 12 family in July 2009 as a multimedia journalist. He comes all the way from Arizona State University, where he graduated in the Spring of 2009 from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

During his time at Arizona State University, Ryan was a reporter for ABC News on Campus, the Cronkite News Service Television Wire Bureau and the award-winning Cronkite NewsWatch where he coverd border violence and different stories on the Arizona state Legislature. He did many different types of stories during his time there ranging from Americans crossing the border into Mexico for cheaper dental care to the state's budget woes causing them to cut ecomonic support for low-income families and even to a story about a young woman who earned her pilots license even though she was born without her arms.

Ryan spent a lot of time in different newsrooms during college. He was a reporter for a couple different magazine publications, the student newspaper--The State Press, a news intern for KNXV-TV Channel 15 in Phoenix, a sports production assistant for KPIX-TV CBS 5 in San Francisco and a national fellowship recipient for KPHO CBS 5 in Phoenix.

Ryan is a California boy, raised near Sacramento in Elk Grove, CA. He often admits he wasn’t always interested in the news, but that all changed after the 9/11 tragedy when he was glued to the news coverage and the stories reporters did touched him deeply. Though he has never even been to the southeast, he is more than happy to call Augusta his new home. He loves meeting people so if you see him anywhere make sure to say "Hello."

In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, jogging along the Savannah River, sports, spending time with his friends and family, showing off his Sun Devil pride and watching movies.
