Katie Beasley

Katie Beasley joined the News 12 team in June 2008 as a reporter/photojournalist. She graduated cum laude from The University of Georgia in the Spring of 2008, earning a B.A. in Broadcast News Journalism.

Most recently, Katie worked with NewSource 15, an Athens news program broadcast by the The University of Georgia. There Katie reported on the extensive drought the area was suffering, brought attention to a local program helping hungry children, and helped uncover a campus building that lacked handicap accessibility. She also co-anchored the hour-long 2007 Drought Special and reported and anchored during the hour-long 2008 Election/Primary Special. During football seasons Katie worked with Georgia Gameday, a magazine-style football show. Each week she anchored and reported on all things between the hedges.

During college, Katie sought out as much experience as possible. She interned in the news department at WSB-TV Channel 2 in Atlanta. Katie also has a big interest in sports. She interned at Atlanta's WAGA-FOX 5 in the sports department. Both her Atlanta internships were very hands on and allowed her to gain experience reporting. Throughout her four years at Georgia, Katie was also a production assistant for multiple CBS Sports SEC football and basketball broadcasts.

Katie grew up not far from Augusta in Alpharetta, GA, where her family still lives. It was there that her passion for television news began to grow. She was even a co-anchor for her elementary school's news while she was in the fifth grade. Katie loves the southeast and can't imagine being anywhere else. She is very excited to call Augusta home and looks forward to getting to know the community better.
