Name: Katie Beasley
Title: First at Five Co-Anchor

Katie Beasley is the Co-Anchor of News 12 First at Five.

Katie joined the News 12 team in June 2008 as a reporter/photojournalist. She also anchored News 12 Weekends from January 2009 to December 2010, until she became the co-anchor of News 12 First at Five.

Katie is an award-winning journalist with two Georgia Association of Broadcasters Awards and one Georgia Association of Broadcasters Merit Award. Her 2009 GABBY for Best Sports Story came from an exclusive interview with golfing great Jack Nicklaus about his infamous 1986 Masters win. Her second 2010 GABBY for Best Sports Story came from a story about a troubled teen who had turned his life around on and off the football field. In 2010, Katie was also honored with the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Merit Award for Best On-Air Personality.

Katie graduated cum laude from The University of Georgia in the Spring of 2008, earning a B.A. in Broadcast News Journalism. While in Athens, Katie worked with NewSource 15, a news program broadcast by the The University of Georgia. Katie reported on a variety of topics and anchored several special newscasts. During football seasons, Katie anchored and reported for Georgia Gameday, a magazine-style football show.

While in college, Katie also interned in the news department at WSB-TV Channel 2 in Atlanta. She also interned at Atlanta's WAGA-FOX 5 in the sports department. Throughout her four years at Georgia, Katie was also a production assistant for multiple CBS Sports SEC football and basketball broadcasts.

Katie grew up not far from Augusta in Alpharetta, Ga., where her family still lives. It was there that her passion for television news began to grow. She was even a co-anchor for her elementary school's news when she was in the fifth grade. Katie loves the Southeast and can't imagine being anywhere else. She is very excited to call Augusta home.

In her spare time, Katie loves sports, being outdoors, running, watching movies, television and spending time with family, friends and her fiance. Of course, feel free to email Katie anytime at katie.beasley@wrdw.com.
