Ryan Houston's love for journalism started when he was in high school. He auditioned and was chosen as an anchor for a local community affairs show in Pine Bluff, Ark.
His enthusiasm for television news grew after he enrolled at the University of Central Arkansas.
Ryan wore several hats for UCA's award-winning news channel. He was a floor director, producer, reporter and anchor. During his summers, he interned with KARK Channel 4 in Little Rock, Ark. He graduated in May of 2010.
Two weeks after graduating, he started working as a Morning Reporter at WALB News 10, in Albany, Ga. There in southwest Georgia is where he learned how to craft a story. During his two years at WALB, he reported on crime, politics and human interest stories. While in Albany, he also volunteered at several nonprofit organizations in the area.
In his free time, he loves hitting the gym, cycling and reading. Ryan is excited about his new role at News 12 as the City Government Reporter and as co-anchor of News 12 Weekends at 6 and 11 o'clock on Sundays.
Ryan would love to hear your story ideas. You can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
