Tom Campbell is currently Co-Anchor of News 12 Midday and News 12 First at Five. Tom has been with News 12 since December 1995. Tom is a part of the News 12 Masters Tournament coverage team. Tom also does numerous live interviews on News 12 Midday that highlight community events, programs and services.
Prior to joining News 12 Tom had experience working as an Anchor/Reporter in several cities including WTXL in Tallahassee, FL, WCMH in Columbus, OH, KBMT in Beaumont, TX, KSBY in San Luis Obispo, CA, KTRK in Houston, TX and WTVN in Columbus, OH.
Tom's first big story was the collapse of the Silver Bridge over the Ohio River in 1967 that killed 46 people. In 1968, Tom covered his first of many Presidential campaigns, interviewing Richard Nixon and Robert Kennedy. Kennedy's interview would be one of his last before his assassination. The following year Tom reported reaction to Astronaut Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon from the astronaut's hometown. In his years of reporting, Tom has traveled all over the United States and to foreign countries. In the 80's Tom reported on the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and filed reports from Ellis Island. Reporting has also taken Tom to China for three weeks and to Haiti twice. When an Amtrak passenger train derailed in Mobile, Alabama, killing 47 people, Tom filed live reports from the scene. Since joining Augusta's News 12 team, Tom's experience as a seasoned journalist has been demonstrated in his coverage of Hurricanes Dennis and Floyd along the east coast with NewStar 12. In early 2000, Tom reported from Camilla, Georgia and the scene of a devastating tornado.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys reading, baseball, jogging, and walking.
He is a native of Delaware, Ohio and attended Ohio Wesleyan and Ohio State Universities.

News 12 interns must be seeking a degree in communications or broadcast journalism and have the recommendation of their advisor. All internships are non-paid, so students must show proof they'll receive college credit for their work. Applicants must pass a drug screening.
