Stacey Hilton joined WRDW in March of 2008. It was a reunion of sorts with Meteorologist Tim Strong--she used to work with him at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska. Stacey says they had so many "giggle fests" on air, she can't even count them. Her favorite moment had to be when Tim snorted on air, mid-sentence. She says it was very hard to get through her next story. Look out Augusta! Stacey wakes up with thousands of viewers each morning, and loves every minute of it! She says she's definitely a morning person. Stacey says there's nothing better than a nice cup of hazelnut coffee, and being able to make people laugh before they head out the door. Stacey's morning news philosophy is to get people up and going in the morning with a smile on their face...and of course, up to date on the news they may have missed while they were sleeping overnight. Stacey says it's a privilege to have people welcome you into their homes every morning. Stacey spent six years anchoring the morning/midday show, and reporting in Lincoln. She was very active in the community, especially when it came to education. She helped reward teachers who made a big difference in students' lives through 'Terrific Teacher'. On air, Stacey was most known for her "contagious laugh," and reporting live, breaking news on the desk and in the field.
Before moving to Lincoln, she spent time in the Western Slope of Colorado, anchoring for KREY-TV. Stacey is a Hawkeye at heart. She received her Bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa, where she majored in journalism and mass communications with an emphasis in broadcasting. One of her mentors there was anchor/reporter Joe Coffey, from KCRG-TV9. So why TV? Stacey says when she was little, she wasn't into watching cartoons, etc...instead, she liked to watch Oprah and the news. She's always been fascinated with creative ways of telling a story. Her mother says she was always asking 'why?' as a child...that turned into a career. When you ask where Stacey is from, she usually has two different answers. She spent most of her childhood and school days in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but she called St. Louis home for about ten years. That's where her family lives, and that's where she met her husband, Curt. They got married at the Jewel Box in St. Louis in August of 2006. A major highlight of moving to Augusta is not only the warm weather, but Stacey and her husband's love of golf. They enjoy traveling to cities across the U.S., finding beautiful courses to play on. In fact, Curt proposed to Stacey on hole nine at the TPC course in Scottsdale, Arizona. Stacey says he truly surprised her...and even got the whole thing on tape! They're looking forward to playing here in the Garden City! When not on the golf course, you can find Stacey walking her two golden cocker spaniels, or out for a jog. She's also active in most sports. Stacey also loves to travel. One of her goals is to see every state in the U.S. with her husband. Stacey and Curt also love to dine out...if you have a favorite spot here, she'd love to hear from you!
