Christie Ethridge

First at 5 Anchor & Reporter
Connect With Me:

The TV news business hooked Christie in the 5th grade. Fifteen years later, she is an award-winning journalist, anchoring News 12 First at Five and reporting each day as a one-(wo)man-band.

Christie works on her own without a cameraman, finding and shooting all her own stories, most days in high heels.

Christie joined the News 12 team right out of college after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Digital and Broadcast Journalism in 2012. Experience gained from her internship at WTVT in Tampa, FL helped her jump right in.

About six months into her career, she took over the weekend anchor position. By the summer of 2015, Christie was promoted to 5 o’clock co-anchor with Richard Rogers.

During football season in 2014, Christie served as the live sports reporter for the award-winning local football show Operation Football Live. As a diehard Dawg fan, this was a perfect way to spend a Friday night.

In between the daily deadlines, Christie has covered ice storms, flooding, and several crime and community stories that have attracted national attention, like the store owner who refused to serve patrons with saggy pants and the murder of a Florida priest in rural Georgia.

Christie’s investigative stories range from health to deadly force, many of them award-winning. Digging into the cause of a fatal fire at a retirement community earned her recognition with the AP.

When she’s not in Augusta, you can usually find Christie by the water with a good book in hand.

Feel free to email her anytime. She’d love to hear from you! You can find her at christie.ethridge@wrdw.com.
