Christie’s passion for broadcast journalism sparked in the fifth grade when she helped produce her elementary school’s student-led announcement show. Ever since then, she has wanted nothing more than to be immersed in the carefully designed chaos of the newsroom every day.
Christie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Digital and Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish. While at UGA, she reported, produced, edited and shot video for Grady Newsource, northeast Georgia’s only local newscast. She also reported on the sidelines for a special edition “G-Day” Post Game Show. During her summer and winter breaks, she interned at WTVT Fox13 in Tampa, Fla., spending her Christmas writing for their newscasts and working closely with the “What’s Right With Tampa Bay” segment.
She was a Peabody Award student judge and traveled to New York to attend the awards banquet with winners such as Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert to work the event.
In the summer of 2010, Christie studied abroad in Australia and Fiji, learning about the indigenous cultures and international affairs. Her favorite part was skydiving over the Pacific Ocean.
Christie grew up in Peachtree City, Ga., and drove her golf cart to high school for two years. She’s an avid Dawg fan and can’t wait to bring you the news. Feel free to email her anytime. She’d love to hear from you! You can find her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
