Jessica Dill is News 12's Morning & Midday anchor. She comes to us from Lima, Ohio, where she worked as an anchor, producer and reporter. She woke up bright and early every day, bringing locals their latest news.
As a general assignment reporter, Jessica covered everything from commission meetings to crimes to community events. While in Lima, she took home a first place Associated Press award for her series piece,"Breaking Barriers Behind Bars," which showed the opportunities prisoners are given during incarceration. She had a life-changing experience as a reporter when she joined 80 World War II veterans on an honor flight from Columbus, Ohio, to Washington, D.C., turning over four pieces and a half-hour show.
Before Lima, she received her master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She worked as a backpack journalist and Web writer in Chicago covering stories including President Obama’s Election Day, Gov. Blagojevich’s impeachment and escalating turmoil in the South Side gangs. She then moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a Capitol Hill correspondent for stations across the country. Jessica received her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in political science from Bowling Green State University, beginning her career as a photographer and switcher for WBGU-PBS and working as general manager, producer, reporter, anchor, photographer and editor at BG-24 News.
Since she's been a competitive swimmer her entire life, morning wake-up calls have become second nature to her. Jessica is from Cleveland but is excited to be down South near her sister who is a teacher at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Family, friends and her Alpha Xi Delta Sorority sisters mean the world to her; when she's not covering stories, she loves spending time with them.
Jessica loves meeting new people, so please feel free to shoot her an email anytime with questions, comments or story ideas!
