Samantha Andre is a part-time multimedia journalist for News 12.

Samantha first came to News 12 in March 2007 as a photojournalist and became a reporter/photojournalist in January 2008. She switched to part-time in July of 2009.

Samantha has always felt that television is a great way to impact people’s lives, and experienced this first hand through her time behind the camera. One story touched her in particular. She shot video of a man working at Goodwill, fixing bikes for needy kids. He felt he was truly making a difference in the world, for the first time since he was in the military. His words really moved her, and she decided then that she wanted to start telling people’s stories.

She graduated from the Honors College at the University of South Florida in December 2006, where she double-majored in mass communication and political science. While in Tampa, she learned about broadcast news at the local ABC affiliate, and also interned at a PBS station.

As the daughter of an Air Force officer, she had the opportunity to live overseas in Germany. She has also been to Spain, Greece, Italy, Denmark, England, France, and her mother’s homeland of the Philippines. She says she still has many places she’d love to visit!

Samantha enjoys living in Augusta, and credits that to true Southern hospitality. She loves meeting new people so send her an e-mail with any story ideas, or just to say hello!
