Laura's love for broadcast news started when she was 15 years old. She was active in the 4-H Club and chose communications as her project area. She decided to start her own local television show that aired weekly to 16 counties in southwest Georgia.
Laura loved traveling to local events and keeping viewers informed of updates in the community. She even had the chance to interview the former mayor of Atlanta, Shirley Franklin, when Mayor Franklin visited her small hometown of Camilla, Ga. Laura went on to shadow at WALB-TV in Albany, Ga., which solidified her choice to become a broadcast journalist.
Laura graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in December 2011 with a degree in digital and broadcast news and a minor in sociology. While in school, she anchored, reported and produced for Newsource 15, which at that time, was the only television news outlet for 26 counties in northeast Georgia. Laura also interned right here at News 12 while she was in college.
She started as a weekend reporter for News 12 in November of 2011, then moved to the weekdays seven months later. In January 2013, she started co-anchoring the First at Five newscast with Richard Rogers.
In her spare time, Laura is enjoying life as a newlywed and loves cheering on the Dawgs, playing golf and cooking.
