Swinney pleased with No. 3 Clemson's balance

Sept. 29, 2013 Clemson, SC (AP) Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables believes the third-ranked Tigers are getting difficult to beat, especially when they play a complete game like they did against Wake Forest.

Venables was pleased that his defense held the Demon Deacons to 222 yards in a 56-7 victory for Clemson (4-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which won its first four games for the second time in three years. He also was gratified Clemson's offense made the defense's stops hold up.

The Tigers led 21-0 less than 8 minutes in, 35-7 at the half and cruised to their fifth straight win over Wake Forest (2-3, 0-2).

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Sunday he's grateful for victory whether it's by a point or seven touchdowns. This latest win shows the players what they can achieve.
