COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina-Liberty game at the NCAA tournament's Columbia regional has been suspended by rain and will resume Monday afternoon.
The Gamecocks (41-18) hold a 4-2 lead on the Flames (36-28) midway through the fifth inning. Should Liberty come back and win, the teams would play a second time Monday night for the regional crown. South Carolina holds a 26-game home win streak in tournament games dating to 2002.
Liberty defeated Clemson 3-1 earlier Sunday to advance.
The Gamecocks opened a 4-0 lead in the third on two RBIs by LB Dantzler. Liberty cut the deficit in half with two runs in the fourth. The game was delayed after Liberty played a scoreless fifth. Officials waited more than 2 1-2 hours before deciding on the postponement.
