Tanner Skogen threw the first touchdown of the game with a 75-yard pass to Andrej Suttles for his first TD catch of his career. Early's extra point was blocked.

The Eagles (4-4, 2-4) responded shortly after with a 1-yard run by Nardo Govan for a TD, taking a 7-6 lead. By halftime, Furman was back in the lead 13-7 after Reese Hannon completed a 54-yard pass for a TD to Ryan Culbreath. Hannon finished with a game-high 150 yards passing.
