PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Georgia Southern Football remained at the number-10 spot in the Sports Network poll released today after picking up its second win of the season this past weekend. For the second straight voting period, the Eagles gained more points with 2,203 this week, 15 points behind Eastern Illinois in ninth place. North Dakota State earned 146 of the 152 first-place votes and stayed atop the poll with Eastern Washington in second. Montana State held off Towson by a single vote as the Tigers moved up to fourth.
Georgia Southern is the highest-ranked team in the Southern Conference with Wofford checking in at 16th in the Sports Network poll and 10th in the FCS coaches poll. In its first year transitioning to FBS, the Eagles will be considered for weekly rankings and honors from the Sports Network, but are not eligible to be ranked in the weekly national coaches poll.
Georgia Southern travels to Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C., this weekend for its 2013 Southern Conference opener at Wofford.
