COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Former Clemson receiver Joe Craig was arrested on a criminal domestic violence charges hours before being dismissed from the football team.
Craig allegedly shoved his girlfriend Whitney Fountain early Sunday morning at his apartment, beginning an altercation between the two. Fountain was also arrested for criminal domestic violence.
Clemson University spokesman John Gouch says the two were arrested Wednesday. He says the charges are both classified as misdemeanors.
Coach Dabo Swinney kicked Craig off the team Wednesday, announcing the move in a press release that did not detail what the redshirt freshman wideout had done.
It was the second time Craig was disciplined because of a fight. Craig served a three-game football suspension last fall stemming from a dispute with track athlete Marlena Wesh.
