Falcons: Vick charges `troubling'; let legal process unfold
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- The Atlanta Falcons said tonight that
the federal indictment charging quarterback Michael Vick with
dogfighting was "troubling" but that the legal process must be
allowed to unfold.\
The team said in a statement -- quote -- "We are disappointed
that one of our players -- and therefore the Falcons -- is being
presented to the public in a negative way, and we apologize to our
fans and the community for that."
The statement said the news from Virginia is disturbing but --
quote -- "we will do the right thing for our club as the legal
process plays out."
It noted that training camp opens next week, and said the plan
is to continue to do everything possible to support the Atlanta
players and coaches.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank, general manager Rich McKay and other
team officials are said to be out of the country and unavailable
for comment.
Vick also could not be reached, but has said in the past that he
was not involved with dogfighting.
