Another week, another Hendrick
Motorsports victory.
Points leader Jeff Gordon took the checkered flag at the Dodge
Avenger 500 at Darlington. It's his third win in the last four
Nextel Cup races and his seventh overall at the South Carolina
track.
Denny Hamlin finished second, while last week's winner, Jimmie
Johnson, finished third for Hendrick. Ryan Newman was fourth and
followed by Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth.
Gordon made it four in a row for the powerful Hendrick
organization, which has won eight of the last nine Nextel Cup races
and remained perfect in all five events the Car of Tomorrow has
been used.
Rain washed out Saturday's race and it was rescheduled for
Sunday, making it the first NASCAR race run on Mother's Day since
1986.
