Saturday, April 25, 2009. (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves have placed catcher Brian McCann on the 15-day disabled list with a left eye infection.
The move announced Saturday was retroactive to Thursday. The Braves also recalled catcher Clint Sammons from Triple-A Gwinnett.
McCann has struggled all season with blurred vision in the eye and was scratched from Friday's starting lineup. The left-handed batter, who leads all major league catchers in home runs and runs batted in since the start of the 2006 season, is hitting .195 with two home runs and seven RBI.
Sammons was optioned to Gwinnett on April 16.
