CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has snared a dozen new players for his first signing class.

The newcomers included standout quarterback Tajh Boyd of Hampton, Va. Boyd committed to the Tigers last month over offers from Ohio State and Oregon.

Clemson recruiting took a hit at mid-season when Tiger Coach Tommy Bowden walked away and Swinney took over on an interim basis. The team finished the season with a 7-6.

Swinney was named the permanent coach after the season. He had been one of the team's top recruiters during his six years as an assistant.
