Georgia player of the year choses Florida State

VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Greg Reid, a cornerback for Lowndes County who was last season's Georgia High School Association all-classification player of the year, says he will sign with Florida State.

Reid made the announcement during a radio show Tuesday night on the eve of national signing day.

"It felt like it was the right place for me," Reid said. Reid had narrowed down his choices to Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami.

The 5-foot-9, 175 pound Reid had nine interceptions last season. He also returned punts and carried the ball 87 times for 902 yards and 12 touchdowns. He returned two punts for touchdowns.

He said he called Seminoles' offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher before he showed up for the radio show to tell him that he would be going to FSU.
