MOBILE, Ala. – University of Georgia defensive tackle Corvey Irvin and split end Mohamed Massaquoi will participate in the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Irvin and Massaquoi will be among 22 Southeastern Conference players at the 60th Senior Bowl, which will kickoff at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 24. The NFL Network will televise the game from Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
Irvin, a native of Augusta, Ga., graduated from Georgia in December with a degree in Child and Family Development. In two years with the Bulldogs after transferring from Georgia Military College, Irvin appeared in 25 games recording 46 tackles and 31 quarterback hurries. In 2008, Irvin appeared in 13 games making 11 starts recording 34 tackles and 24 quarterback hurries. He was also named a defensive team captain.
Massaquoi, a native of Charlotte, N.C., graduated from Georgia in December with a degree in Psychology. Over his four-year Bulldog career Massaquoi played in 51 games with 36 starts, and he finished ranked fourth in career receiving yards at UGA with 2,282 and fourth in school history with 158 pass receptions. In 2008, Massaquoi was named the team's permanent overall captain as he started all 13 games recording 58 receptions for 920 yards and eight touchdowns. He recorded four 100-plus yard performances in 2008 and his 920 yards receiving ranked as the fourth-best single-season total in UGA history. His efforts helped him garner first team All-SEC honors by the SEC Coaches and second team All-SEC recognition by the Associated Press and Phil Steele.
