DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) -- Darlington Raceway has cut ticket prices for about 9,000 of its seats for May's 2009 Southern 500.
Track president Chris Browning says Darlington will reduce its $45 tickets by $10 for the Sprint Cup event on Saturday night, May 9. Browning says the move is a recognition that race fans are dealing with a sour economy. He hopes the savings will help them attend.
The reduced priced seats will be in rows 3 to 14 in the Colvin Grandstand along the track's backstretch.
Darlington has sold out the four races it has run on Mother's Day weekend. Browning says ticket sales were a tick behind what they have at this point in other years. But he's hopeful the track will be able to sell out its seats again this spring.
