Sunday, September 21, 2008. (AP) -- Scott Schoeneweis and the Mets bullpen blew another late lead, with the Atlanta Braves rallying for four runs in the eighth inning and a 7-6 win Sunday that stalled New York's playoff push.
The Mets began the day trailing Philadelphia by a half-game in the NL East. Their edge in the wild-card race was cut to 1 1/2 games by Milwaukee, which beat Cincinnati 8-1.
Down 4-3, Atlanta struck in the eighth against Schoeneweis (3-4) and three Mets relievers. It was the latest collapse for a beleaguered bullpen missing injured closer Billy Wagner.
