GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- With Fenway Park on hold, the Atlantic
Coast Conference plans to hold its 2009 baseball tournament a
little closer to home. The ACC says next spring's tournament will be held in Durham at the home stadium of the minor league Durham Bulls. The 10,000-seat stadium will host a 13-game tournament from May 20-24.
Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox, was scheduled to host
the event, but organizers there had to postpone to 2010 after
discovering a scheduling error last month. The Durham Bulls
Athletic Park is located about an hour from the league headquarters
in Greensboro and was able to host the event on relatively short
notice. It will be the sixth time the ACC baseball tournament has been
held in Durham, the last time being in 1999.
