Saturday, September 6, 2008. (AP) C.J. Spill rushed for three touchdowns and James Davis added one to lead Clemson to its 15th straight victory over The Citadel, 45-17, on Saturday.

The Tigers (1-1) were embarrassed on national TV by Alabama, 34-10, a week ago, dropping out of the rankings from No. 9.

But behind their "Thunder and Lightning" backfield, the Tigers got back on track against the Football Championship Subdivision opponent.

Davis started the scoring with a 38-yard touchdown run. Spiller followed with scoring runs of 37 and 1 yard to put Clemson ahead 21-0.

That was all the Tigers needed. Safety Michael Hamlin tied a school record with three interceptions.
