CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- A freshman Coastal Carolina football player
has been suspended from the team and the school after he was
charged with simple assault.
Campus police say Jeremy Harden of Hamlet, N.C., was arrested
Monday after a residence hall fight. The university and athletics officials say Harden will be suspended until his case is dealt with by campus judicial officials.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports Harden is the sixth
Chanticleer football player arrested in the past year. Freshman
William Chandler was charged with third-degree criminal sexual
conduct last week.
University president David DeCenzo says he's talked to the
football team and coaches and warned them it's time to take
responsibility for their actions. A telephone listed for Harden in Hamlet had been disconnected.
