COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina will have freshman
quarterback Stephen Garcia back for the start of practice. The school said Garcia will be at practice Friday after being approval for early reinstatement. He had been suspended by the university from all activities until Aug. 15.
The Gamecocks are reporting for fall camp Thursday. Their first practice in Friday night. Garcia was suspended in March after he was ticketed for underage drinking. It was his third run-in with authorities since arriving on campus in January 2007.
Garcia thanked university officials for his chance to continue
with the team. His statement said he would not talk to the media
until he began playing in real games at South Carolina.
