ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Hawks resigned coach Mike Woodson
Friday for his fifth season with the team. Terms of the agreement were not immediately available.

Hawks general manager Rick Sund said since taking over he has
spent a great deal of time familiarizing himself with Woodson's
philosophy, direction and strategies. Sund said, "I'm comfortable he will help this team reach its potential and build upon the success they enjoyed this past season." Woodson steered the Hawks to the playoffs where they were beaten by the Boston Celtics in the opening 7-game series.
