TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points and Corey
Fisher added 17 points to help 12th-seeded Villanova to a 75-69 win
over Number Five seed Clemson in the first round of the Midwest
Region last night.
The Tigers led by 18 points with five minutes to go in the first
half, but the Wildcats got hot from three-point range and slowly
cut into the lead. Villanova led by seven with 3:44 left, but Clemson hit seven straight free throws to tie it at 66 with 1:55 to go.But the Tigers wouldn't make another basket until the Wildcats had put the game away from the foul line.
Demontez Stitt scored 14 points to lead Clemson, while K.C. Rivers added 12 points. Terrence Oglesby had a terrible night shooting for the Tigers, going 1-for-11 and 1-for-8 on threes. He did make all eight of his
free throws. Villanova plays Number 13 seed Sienna in Saturday's second round.
