KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Jair Jurrjens ran his spring scoreless streak to eight innings today, limiting St. Louis to two singles and a walk over four frames as the Braves beat St. Louis 3-1.

Jurrjens, acquired by the Braves from Detroit in the Edgar Renteria trade, faced just one batter over the minimum. He picked a runner off first base and another was erased on a double play. The right-hander had 25 strikes in his 39 pitches. He threw just one ball in each of his last two innings, needing only 14 pitches.

Jurrjens gave up a first-inning run in his opening start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but hasnt allowed a run since. He pitched three hitless innings in his second start against Cleveland.

Jurrjens is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA for the spring and has allowed just six base runners in nine innings.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright struggled early with his control. Wainwright, who is from Brunswick, Georgia, gave up two first-inning runs before steadying. He allowed three hits and three walks in five innings, with just one base runner coming in his final three frames.

Javy Lopez, trying to make a comeback with the Braves, hit a solo homer in the seventh inning off reliever Chris Perez. The veteran catcher had been 1-for-12 since homering in his first spring at-bat.
