ATLANTA (AP) -- Charlie Blackmon tripled home the winning run in
the eighth inning, then made a game-saving diving catch in the
ninth to lead Georgia Tech to a 4-3 victory over Rutgers today.
Blackmon also had a single and home run and drove in three runs
for the Jackets (6-1). His triple in the eighth drove in Derek Dietrich, who had singled up the middle.
Andrew Robinson (1-0) yielded a two-out single in the ninth to
Victor Cegles, who moved to third on a throwing error by second
baseman Jeff Ussery. Blackmon then made his game-saving catch on a
liner by Jon Gossard to end the game.
Tech starter Eddie Burns held the Scarlet Knights (2-2) to two
runs on five hits in six innings. He tied his career record with 10
strikeouts.
