CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Panthers have solidified two key positions by re-signing left tackle Travelle Wharton and strong safety Chris Harris.
Wharton gets a six-year deal, while Harris was signed to a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2012 season.
Wharton, a former USC Gamecock, was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the month. Harris had one year left on his deal.
Harris led the NFL and set a team record with eight forced fumbles last season.
