ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia senior Rebecca Rowsey will miss the
rest of the basketball season due to complications from an old knee
Rowsey missed the 2005-06 season after tearing the anterior
cruciate ligament in her right knee. She will have surgery on
Thursday to relieve problems caused by deteriorating cartilage.
Rowsey is a 6-foot-3 forward from Henderson, Tennessee. She
started 63 of her first 100 games at Georgia but has seen her
playing time reduced while averaging two points and two rebounds in
about nine minutes per game this season for Georgia.
Rowsey is a member of the University of Georgia's honors program
with a grade point average over 3.7. She is on schedule to earn
degrees in biology and religion this spring and plans to enroll at
the University of Tennessee's medical school in Memphis in the
