MIAMI (AP) -- The mother of South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier has died.
Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs, Florida says 86-year-old Marjorie Orr Spurrier died of natural causes yesterday.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at Pinewood Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie Spurrier's son Steve is widely credited for revolutionizing the Southeastern Conference with his innovative, wide-open passing attack and coached the Florida Gators to their first national title in 1996.
Steve Spurrier also won Florida's first Heisman Trophy as a quarterback in 1966.
