Atlanta's new WNBA team will be the Dream

ATLANTA (AP) -- The owner of Atlanta's new WNBA team says the team will be called the Atlanta Dream.

Owner Ron Terwilliger tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the name will be formally announced today at a news conference.

The team also will unveil its logo and color scheme. Team president Bill Bolen says the colors will a combination of white, blue and red.

Terwilliger says the name is consistent with Atlanta and its history.

Atlanta City Council president Lisa Borders, an adviser to the team, agreed. She cites the city's efforts to become a transportation hub, host the Olympics and the fact that Atlanta was a base for the civil rights movement.

Atlanta was awarded the WNBA franchise in October.

The team is scheduled to begin playing when the 2008 WNBA season
opens in May. The team's home opener is May 23rd against the Detroit Shock.
