CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The old man will get another chance for
the Carolina Panthers.
Coach John Fox today named 43-year-old Vinny Testaverde as the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Indianapolis. Testaverde got the nod ahead of David Carr, who is recovering from a back injury.
Fox says he doesn't think Carr is 100 percent. Carr practiced Friday and is listed as probable.
The 43-year-old Testaverde will try to become make the Panthers the first team this year to be the defending NFL champions.
Testaverde said Monday he thought Carr would start. Carr said the same Wednesday.
But Fox says today he doesn't think Carr progressed enough during the week, after sustaining a compression fracture in his lower back against New Orleans on October 7th.
