Wagener Salley starting to build a winning tradition

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Wagener, SC--It's a different culture at Wagener Salley over the last few years. From a couple of wins to a playoff team. It's certainly changed the mind set of the kids on the field.

They were a playoff team 12 months ago and wound up with seven wins. A few more kids are coming out and they like the taste of success. Getting back to the playoffs will be a challenge and it could fall on the defense to keep them in ballgames.

"By standing up on defense and by stopping teams from getting more then 14 or 21 points a game." said Keaunri Holmes

"I think we're going to have to play better defensively and I'm not sure how much and if we're going to be able to score like we have the last couple of years so defensively we're going to have to play a little bit better." said Ken Tucker

Keaundri Holmes will be asked to carry the load in the offensive backfield. The good news, three offensive lineman return to give them stability. As coach Tucker said, these kids aren't use to losing so it's a different era of War Eagle football.
