Thomson, Ga--It seems to be the year of the running backs in the CSRA. Usually 200 yard games are really good and now the bar has been raised with guys going for 300. The latest, Chris Jordan from Thomson, is our Acadmey Sports and Outdoors player of the week.
Jordan really hit big in the second half against Lakeside scoring three times and his final rushing tally was 325 yards. He's a senior and has led by example on how the hard work will pay off on any given Friday.
"I didnt' really think that I would come out and perform like that" said Chris Jordan "But you know I work hard at practice, do good in the weight room so I guess it transfers out there on the field."
"Going into the season we knew who a couple of our bell cows were, the guys who were going to have to kind of take charge and lead us especially early on." said coach Milan Turner "Chris was one of those guys and he's done that, and I think he can continue to get even better."
Now Jordan knew he was having a good game, but didn't know how good til he was coming to the sideline and his mom got his attention from the stands.
"I was actually coming off to the sideline and I actually hear someone calling my name in the stands and she was like you're at 200 yards, and I was like ok" said Chris Jordan " I come back off not too far from 300 and we go back out on offense and we run and run and get back and she calls me again and is like you're at 300, it was funny stuff."
Making his performance a little more impressive, two guys on the offensive line were starting their first ever varsity game.
