Edgefield, SC--Some bad news for Strom Thurmond. Junior running back Darius Hammond is done for the playoffs after breaking his ankle in Friday night's win over Keenan.
Coach Lee Sawyer said it happened in the fourth when he was blocking and the pile rolled up on him. He'll find out Tuesday if he needs surgery but there's the possibilty he might not. Hammond has been a game changer seeing he's capable of breaking it for a score anytime he touches the ball, whether it be out of the backfield or returning kicks.
Malcolm Watkins will get the bulk of the work now. Strom Thurmond will host Emerald Friday night.
Earlier this year Hammond missed a few games due to illness.
