South Aiken, SC--In his first year at the helm at South Aiken, Jeremy West couldn't have had a tougher season. The Thoroughbreds were winless but that could change in a hurry.

First and foremost a total of 18 starters returned off a squad that was basically a glorified JV team as West described them. A year wiser, a year smarter and now in year two of his tenure as head coach has everyone on the same page. Of course the kids are also playing with a huge chip on their shoulder to make sure last year becomes a figment of their imagination.

"My expectations are to win." said coach Jeremy West " I didn't like what I went through last year but I really think last year will benefit us. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you make your rise to the top and our kids don't like the taste of it and have worked hard ever since."

"We expect them to think we'll be an easy game, but we've shocked a lot of teams in our scrimmages and stuff." added Josh Brown

Josh Brown will be a big part of the defense and is one of the more highly recruited talents around. He's huge so why shouldn't he be? This year's T-breds might just surprise a lot of folks. They have a new attitude and need to approach games more aggressive.

"Well we're a team here and we're going to take what the defense gives us on offense and be aggressive on defense and try to exploit weaknesses." added coach West

"We're really a contender, we're going to fight every play." said Brown "That's the main thing about us, we're going to be fighting. We're going to hit you the first play but stay out there the whole game though."

South Aiken starts the year at Richland North east before hosting Midland Valley in week two. If they come up with wins early, they'll serve notice to the rest of the area.
