Saluda, SC--Coming off a one win season a year ago, the attitude is pretty darn good at Saluda. Despite only having a handful of seniors, Doug Painter and the boys are ready to roll towards respect and being a quality football team.
While the Tigers may be short in the tooth in the experience department, the are excited about the prospects of who they have. Led by Tevin Mcgraw, Almonty Abney and Wendell Gantt the leadership quality is there. As they get ready to start the season, they'll be leaning on the defense to carry them early as the offense gets up to speed with the new faces.
"We're bigger up front then we have been on defense" said coach Doug Painter "We've got some experience at linebacker, so those two things combined and a little more speed in our secondary, our defense is going to have to step up for us and play good for us and then our offensive line will kind of have to come along and mesh and then we'll be ok."
"If you just look at us, we're just three dominant guys that should be dominant." said Tevin McGraw "If we're not being dominant, then something is wrong."
Now don't expect this team to be gangbusters out of the gate. It'll take some time before both sides of the ball are on the same page.
