Grovetown, Ga--Any time you're a start up program it's going to take some time before you are a true playoff contender. Now in their fourth year, Grovetown feels like they are ready to be just that.
A lot of key pieces to the puzzle return with their entire offensive backfield and several lineman back for another go. Hunter Peace has had a good off season slinging the ball and with Jamal Cummings and Terrell Hughes in the backfield, weapons are in place. 10 of these guys have now been with the warriors all four years and they want to go out with a bang.
"It would be awesome. I would love it. It's definitely one of the things that I want to do" said Hunter McBride
"We've had like 10 guys be here since the begining" said Jamal Cummings "Just the fact that we want to go out big after those four years is what's really going to motivate us to do good this year."
One big thing this team needs to do is finish the drill. After running off to a six and one schedule, the Warriors faltered losing their last three. While it's served motivation for the season, it's also served as a lesson for the coaching staff.
"We've talked about it since last year and you know it's great to be 6 and 1 but it doesn't do you any good if you finish the year and don't make the playoffs. So that's our big push and that's why we've beefed up our non-region schedule." said coach Rodney Holder
That non-region schedule includes Washington County, Swainsboro, North Augusta and Houston County to start the year.
