Barnwell, SC--It's a brand new attitude in Barnwell. After some sub par seasons and a change in coaches, the Warhorses are thinking big in 2011. They can credit second year Head Coach Ed Moore for the change in attitude.
The Warhorses have struggled in that department the past few years, but not anymore. While they posted just three wins a year ago, they were in several other ballgames that could have gone either way. A mistake here or there probably cost them. Now they are hoping the new attitude and desire to win can turn those losses into wins.
"We got a lot of bad breaks last year, but we've got to learn to play through those," says Moore. "There's not a championship team out there that doesn't go through a year without facing some of the same levels of adversity that we did. Granted we had a lot of injuries, but the teams we played did to. Championship teams learn how to play through those injuries, play through that adversity and still come out on top, and that's what we're trying to do."
"It feels like anything you're trying to do, nothing works," says senior Jake Parler. "Since I've seen one side, I want to get a taste of the other side and see how the other side wins and wins championships, and everybody on this team is hungry for it."
Keeping healthy could also be key because they had several offensive linemen go down a year ago. This year's seniors, though, want to change the mindset of the program and are doing and saying all the right things to make it happen. Barnwell plays in one of the early games August 19th.
