New coach, new begining at Cross Creek

Wednesday August 14, 2013

Augusta, Ga--New man in charge over at Cross Creek high school and he's charged with a lot. As of today, the Razorbacks have one winning season in fourteen years of football. With the confidence to change that difficult stretch is former assistant coach, Robert McCarty, taking over the head coaching gig.

At three and seven a year ago, Cross Creek is only looking for steady improvement. Though, coach McCarty believes these players are able to turn it around. Compared to last season, the Razorbacks want to finish the drill and finish each play which may lead to more succes. Most importantly, Cross Creek is looking for positive attitude that can play with a little bit of fire.

"Finishing drives is a big key. We've got to learn, when we get in the redzone, how to finish, just take people's heads off." said Vince Norris

"Just to get the kids working hard and believing in getting things turned around." added Robert McCarty "These guys have a winning attitude, they're ready to work hard everyday. They don't mind the conditioning. They're just dedicated to getting things where they need to be."

More vocal leaders have risen on this team, Norris and senior quarterback Tyler Darnell have made big strides for Cross Creek. Darnell played as a sophomore but wasn't under center last year due to injury. The Razorbacks open the season in a week and a half hosting Greenbrier.
