Ridge Spring, SC--Six years ago, Ridge Spring Monetta was the toast of the town going to the state title game. Hasn't been smooth sailing since. Now, with a new coaching staff, the Trojans have a new "can-do" attitude.
Heath Corley comes over from Williston Elko and has instituted a whole new offense and defense, one the kids are excited about. With a lot of guys returning from last year, the Friday night experience is there and they have confidence in the man who'll lead them, seeing what he's done in the past.
"A lot of confidence because we know what school he came from and the things that he did. He's going to help us get to the next level" said Travious Wigfall
"It wasn't a hard sell for them" said coach Heath Corley "They played against it for six or seven years, some of them have seen it for a long time. It was an easy sell there. But I think more then anything, the kids are hungry to win. No kid likes to walk down the hall and get picked on about football or anything else in life and I think they're just excited about the chance to succeed."
Coach corley knows it's going to be a work in progress as he's hoping to get his playmakers out in space where they can make a play. Two of his assistants, played with the trojans on that '06 team so there's an added connection to past success.
