Graniteville, SC--To say last year left a sour taste in the mouths of Midland Valley would be the understatement of the year. A season after winning the region title, just a single win in 2011.

They'll have to go some seeing there's a lot of new faces in key places, namely the offensive backfield. Coach Rick Knight is the first to admit they'll be a work in progress and just need to get better every day and every week. Everyone, coaches included, took a long look in the mirror to see how they can improve.

"Absolutely, absolutely" said coach Rick Knight "We added things in the weight room and we tried to improve our team speed and tried to be a little tougher. I don't know if that's worked yet, but we tried to make our requirements a little tougher."

"Oh yea, we've definitely stepped it up a little bit in the weight room and just more drills and just getting after it more."

Coach Knight's also said sometimes it's a matter of making your own luck, something they didn't have a season ago. Look for the names of Tevin Williams, Quincy Pressley, Nick Bell and Joseph Johnson to be the leaders on a hungry Mustang squad.
