More stability should help Screven County

Thursday August 25, 2011

Sylvania, Ga--When ever a team undergoes a coaching change, more often then not it takes a year or two before everyone's on the same page. For Screven County, these kids now feel, they and coach Greg Mainor are ready to get things rolling in the right direction.

No question it was an adjustment for the Gamecocks and the end result was a three and seven record. This year, everything is more familiar to the kids and the coaches and it should make a big difference in the final product.

"Yea I think our kids are more confident in our schemes and the things I'm trying to teach them." said coach Greg Mainor "I do feel a whole lot better then I did last year coming in since I know all the kids now. It took a while for them to get adjusted to my style and everything and I think they've responded real well."

"It's always hard to make that transition from one coach to another definitely" said senior Russell Waters "You always have those differences with another coach and its just so much easier having him out here for a second year."

It looks like the strength will again be on the ground for Screven County. Jeremy Johnson was a 1000 yard rusher and is back. The defense, may be a work in progress with a lot of holes to fill.
