Four weeks into the season, midland valley was on the ropes. Just a single win. Then again the three losses came to the likes of North Augusta, Silver Bluff and Aiken. Now, three weeks later, they're on the verge of winning a region title.
This week against A.C. Flora the mustangs are playing for even more, namely coach Rick Knight who just lost his wife to cancer this past weekend. They know the hardships he's gone through pale in comparison to what the team is dealing with.
"We've stepped our game up and playing as a team more" said Jamaree Drayton "We know what the situation is that the coach is going through with his wife and stuff so we wanted to dedicate some of this to him. Show our coach we really want to play ,that we are really here for him and for the team, knowing all the hard work our coach has been doing."
A win over the six and one Falcons would pretty much lock up the region with just a couple of games to play. A lot of credit goes to the defense who's given up just 23 points in the past three games.
