Augusta, Ga--Usually one of the top teams in the Augusta metro area resides on Laney Walker Boulevard. The wildcats have proven they can win with some of the best and this year hope to continue to prove to the rest of the region

They have a lot of new faces on offense so the early emphasis will be to improve day to day and week to week. George Myers does come back but will be flanked by a new quarterback and other fresh faces. To that end, this squad may resemble last years. Play alright early and then get hot when region play begins.

"The biggest thing is how we develop as the season goes along" said coach Lemuel Lackey "It may start out slow, but I doubt it, and as the season rolls along you want to be hitting all the cylinders near the end."

"Well, a threat in the playoffs, everybody is going to have to step on the field. Young underclassmen, everyone. We have a young team so that's just it" added George Myers.

Going to be a learning curve though and the defense might have to carry this squad for a while. And oh yea, go back to march and you'll find more motivation. The basketball team winning a state crown.

"We are kind of jealous but we know what we need to do to move foreward. We know that since they set the goals so high, we need to get past that." added Dayquan Miller

Laney finds themselves in a new region. Harlem, Josey and Westside now are on the schedule. Coach Lackey indicated they're excited about rekindling some of those city rivalries that may have been lacking in the past.
